Last of the Farm Fresh Eggs

Here it is... a pic of the last of our fresh eggs ready for the kids to eat on our farm table. The end to all the wonderful yumminess these eggs bring to our life. I guess I'm being a bit dramatic but something has managed to eat every single one of our 10 hens we had in our coop. We still have three of our younger auracana who are not laying yet (there was 11) but our producers that laid beautiful blue and brown eggs are gone... so my mission today along with my craigslist guru Nick, is to find more birds. I think we may have found some for sale that are already laying in Mulberry, but we want to check and make sure it's the best deal around;) Joey and are trying to plan a covering of sorts for our fenced in area for the hens... Chicken wire is far from cheap these days so we're trying to come up with some affordable ideas. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'll put pics up later of the setup we have going on. As for now we will be missing our beautiful hens and the yummy eggs they laid as I have already purchased some from the store which, btw, have the palest yolk I've ever seen. I'm trying to figure out what I ever saw in store bought eggs:/

  1. Sorry about all your chickens!! I feel your pain. I can't even tell you how many chickens our neighbors' dogs have killed ~ we finally gave up.

If you have to buy store-bought eggs, Braum's are the best option.

  2. My niece and nephew have chickens so they can sell the eggs. Their dad ordered a cool little coop that can be wheeled around so they are all completely fenced in but they can still be "free range."
